Fred Kakooza

Fred Kakooza has interest in Multimedia production, Broadcasting, ICT/New media and Development communication. These interests have informed his doctoral study on ‘the contribution and potential of social media in health communication focusing on HIV/AIDS prevention among young people in Uganda’.

Kakooza is an Assistant Lecturer at the department of Journalism and Communication, Makerere University, where he also coordinates online content. He is a visiting lecturer to University of Juba, National University of Rwanda, and Islamic University in Uganda.

He holds a Masters in Journalism and Communication and a Bachelors degree in Mass Communication (Hons) from Makerere University. His masters study investigated ‘the influence of business priorities on content in the broadcast media situated in the political economy of the media’ http://jocom.mak.ac.ug/research/influence-business-priorities-radio-content-uganda-case-study-radio-two-akaboozi-fm%E2%80%99. Other certificates include Social & behavioral change communications, multimedia production and digital journalism.
